Who is Chasing the Donkey?
Sarah-Jane is a cheerful Aussie who married a Croatian and made this small Mediterranean country her home. On their travel blog named Chasing the Donkey you can discover everything about local food and culture, best vacation spots and accommodation.
How did they come up with that name? On her very first trip to Croatia, back in 2000, Sarah-Jane visited the island of Dugi otok near Zadar and saw the donkey that inspired the name of the blog. She says that the name Chasing the Donkey doesn’t actually mean anything, it’s just a funny name that incorporates her wish to move to Croatia, which she eventually did.
Their lists of things to do in Zadar or in any other city are more than helpful if you are visiting out country, or any other country in the Balkans. And we are more than honoured that our Jadera Secrets sightseeing game has made it to that list, too! The family also shares stories about their life in Croatia.
What is a sightseeing game?
This is exactly what Sarah-Jane and her team were curious about, since they haven’t seen this type of interactive tours before. She came to play the Jadera Secrets outdoor escape game in company of her 5-year-old son Vlado and her two friends that were visiting from Australia. Our host Lucija welcomed them and explained the rules, giving them the wooden box that holds the secrets of Jadera, or Zadar, as we call it in our time.
At the beginning of their sightseeing adventure, the team got a mysterious wooden suitcase with six locks that they needed to open by solving fun riddles at the most famous sights of the Old Town. Each time they unlocked a part of the game, the Chasing the Donkey team got a small wooden tablet that unveiled the next location which they needed to visit in Zadar’s Old Town.
What makes Jadera Secrets so fun?
This type of interactive sightseeing tour gets your brain moving, unlocks your creativity and brings unusual details to your attention. Sarah-Jane and her team got to see so many wonderful details they usually wouldn’t have noticed. Furthermore, although it is a game, you actually get to learn a lot about the sights and about the local history. There is a story that you follow through the game, as you try to find Zadar’s secret potion.
One of the biggest advantages of our outdoor escape game is that it is designed for smaller groups, from 2-5 people. All our tours are private, which means that you will never be playing with strangers, but only with those who you know and love, just like this little group did.
